How to meditate (for beginners)

Here I am going to share with you some simple tips on how to meditate simply and effectively.

Here I am going to share with you some simple tips on how to meditate simply and effectively.

STEP 1

Meditation can actually be done in any position that makes you comfortable. You can also lie down on your back and meditate [just make sure you do not fall asleep]. But if you are in a seated position ,make sure that you are sitting nice and tall with a straight back while maintaining the natural curves of your spine. You can place your hands  on your lap or your thighs with either palms facing up [for receiving] or facing down [for grounding].

 

STEP 2

When getting started to meditate make sure you turn off all the external distractions [most importantly your phone]. You are always welcome to play a soft music in the background if you want. You can also light up some candles or incense sticks just to make the surroundings more calm and relaxing.

 

STEP3

Now gently close your eyes and begin to bring all your awareness to your breath. Notice the movement of the breath inside your body.

 

STEP 4

You may either continue to focus on your breather perhaps chant any mantra if you feel like or else you may repeat some affirmations for the rest of your meditation practice.

 

You can set an alarm for how many minutes you want to meditate or perhaps just go with the flow[sit in silence as long as you can].
